Artist's Comments

There is a lot you cannot control in life, especially when you are young. As a young child you do not always have the option to put distance between yourself and a bad situation. My girl is trying to escape into books, so that she does not have to feel what life is doing to her, but reality binds her and holds her down. Sooner or later she has to go back home to reality and all it holds.

Sometimes hiding into a virtual world can b better than being into the reality, makes you feel a little more happy and peaceful, lol, even tough you have to face the world, because it's part of your life. :)
I totally love this canvas. I'm going to feature it in my journal.

that's so cool, thank you :)

And I agree, having a place to escape does make life more bearable!

That sound pretty familiar to me. I had STRICT disciplinarian parents who used to ground me for thinking the wrong thoughts or looking the wrong way. I spent THOUSANDS of hours alone in my room with nothing but books to entertain me.

When I realized they NEVER looked at my books they became my escapism and I actually had to curtail my reading time in front of them or that would have been part of the punishment.

I sympathize with the subject girl in your painting, I've lived her life and can appreciate her situation.

Thanks so much!

I really liked that painting. I also enjoyed greatly the story behind it. Reading it while watching the painting gives me the feeling reality is really interested in reminding her to embrace life (and that what is out there is as interesting and rich as the books she reads). :)
